Join us and “Care For Water” at BE Future Impact Day on Oct. 14 in Bruges, Flanders

Watch out for Water at this business trip – and learn what we can do as an industry to achieving SDG6 from the UN Agenda 2030.

Sustainable Development Goal #6 recognizes the centrality of water resources to all areas of sustainable development. Water plays a vital role in urban development, in climate mitigation and needs to manage flood and drought impact. Coping with heat, securing health and food for the future and building capacity, no strategy will work without water.

Therefore join in to “Care for Water” at the upcoming IMPACT DAY in Bruges, Flanders,

We combine water data, stories on water, ways to save water, specific policies / initiatives taken in the city of Bruges and in Flanders, an interactive quiz  and custom-made content to show how delegates (in this case YOU) can be motivated for a water-conscious stay and learn more about local water situation and innovation.

At the Crowne Plaza Hotel Bruges, we have installed an innovative digital device to monitor water-use in real time to see whether the responsible use of water by the guests is visible in overall water-use of the hotel.

We use a smart meter device which applies AI to illustrate water usage and to show irregularities as soon as they happen. This helps fight the strong negative impact on water through water-waste,leakage and dysfunctional fittings.

The device can be added to most existing water meters, and it provides the necessary data for managing the water technology in the hotel, but also to illustrating investments and impact achieved in Water and Sustainability development. This goes beyond certification parameters and delivers data for ESG reporting.

Watch the presentation on the screen in the Crowne Plaza Hotel to get an idea of the width of water challenges and stories and support us in demonstrating how conference delegates can help to save water in a hotel and in a city.

You can contribute by using water more consciously, for example by

  • Not flipping cigarette butts in water (Bruges has many canals!) and not on soil
  • Drinking tap or filtered water instead of using plastic bottles to avoid further microplastic pollution
  • Taking shorter and less frequent showers
  • Always closing the tap while you wash hands
  • Using a water glass instead of running water when brushing teeth
  • Never throwing any debris in the toilets
  • Pointing out that you not really need towels changed and room cleaned daily
  • Pick plant based regional food wherever possible

Water is at the core for systems to function properly in personal and public life.

The campaign is offered by VisitFlanders and FrauBlau. Talk to Johanna if you have any questions or want to apply “Care for Water” in your work.
